Getting Started With the Niche Marketing

Gaining authority in your niche is huge. You want people think of you instinctively when they want to learn something, read something, or buy something. When there’s breaking news, you want them to turn to you first. If they feel stuck or frustrated, you want to be a shining light for them.

As an authority– you’re “it”– you’re a star in your niche or sub-niche or whatever it is you’ve focused on conquering.

The problem is that it can be so hard to stand out from the crowd. There are lots of other marketers and niche-superstar wannabes out there vying for attention. Right now, they’re doing just as good of a job, or better, as you’re doing.

niche marketing success

Standing out doesn’t come easy, does it?

They say that as a marketer  you should focus on finding your core group of fans, readers, and customers. These are the people who will be loyal to you. They are the ones who will shout your name from the rooftops– telling everyone they can about who you are and what you have to offer. They will boost your authority for you.

Maybe you’re just starting out and you haven’t found this core group yet– or, they haven’t found you yet. You know they’re out there and you know you have a lot to offer them.

Maybe you do have a core group of fans and followers– but you’re looking to grow that group. You like what’s happening in your business so far. You look at your results and know things would really be fantastic if you could multiply things. Four times the followers and four times the profits… or more… that would be nice.

Whatever your situation, you’re always looking to improve things. You want to grow your audience, boost the loyalty of your top followers, and become seen as an authority in your niche with increasing importance. You want the core group of raving fans as well as the wider attention and eyeballs of your niche.

It’s time to focus on growing your authority.

Once you do, it all sort of snowballs. The more you’re seen as an authority, the more other authorities will see you that way as well. You’ll be contacted for partnering opportunities, affiliate opportunities, they’ll start to link to you, share your stuff on social media, and so on. That means even more people will pay attention to what you have to say– you’ll be borrowing authority because of the company you’ll keep as a heavy-hitter.

There are some great things you can do to make this happen. Here are some of the top things you can do to boost your authority. Later, I’ll talk about the main method we’ll focus on for instant-authority boosting! This is something you can do whether you’re new or established– and it works fast. But, that’s for later…

Authority-Boosting Methods:

  • Be present
  • Be active
  • Share freely
  • Share the latest info
  • Be real
  • Be helpful
  • Be informative
  • Be different

Be Present

If you want to be seen as an authority in your niche, then you need to be present in your niche. People should run into you, your sites, your products, and all of your efforts all over the web. Be present wherever the people of your niche are most likely to hang out.

Be Active

As an authority, be active all over your niche. Comment on people’s posts. Share the blog posts of other authorities in your market. Be helpful. Release new products. Write new posts on your blog. There are lots of ways to be active. You basically want to stay at the top of people’s minds. Offer your audience info products that are solutions to their problems.

Share Freely

This hits on something we’re going to talk a lot about–  it’s a huge part of the revolution we’re talking about in this book! Share information and help freely. Share freebies and gifts. Be open and helpful in answering people’s questions. You’ll quickly win a lot of loyalty and get ‘authority points’ along the way.

Share the Latest Info

As an authority, you should really have your finger on the pulse of what’s going on in your niche. Break news. Keep up with and share what’s going on. You want people to turn to you first, before everyone else. Keep up to date and share your thoughts on what’s going on- even if your thoughts aren’t always the same as what people expect. You’re a leader, after all. You can use PLR content to boost your authority online. Find PLR content you know your audience needs and post it to your social accounts to gain instant credibility.

Be Real

One thing that’s really going to help set you apart from other marketers is if you’re real with your audience. Share what’s going on in your life. Share your ups, downs, and fears. Share the things that are working well for you. Share the exciting things in your life. Not everything has to do with the niche you’re in– though most of it should relate in some way, in most cases.

Be Helpful

Give more than you receive. That’s one of the biggest things to focus on as an authority in your niche. Give, give, give. Give of your advice, strategies, and encouragement. Be helpful- give people a helpful hand when you can. They won’t forget it.

Does this mean you should work for free, never market, and not sell, sell, sell? Of course not. You’ll just be a much more effective and successful marketer if you’re helpful and give a lot of value.

Be Informative

People want to learn things. You’ve chosen your particular niche because it’s full of people who are desperate about something or passionate about something. They want the best information– the information that will get them to where they want to go, the fastest.

Be the one they can turn to for the best information and advice. Share it in a way that breaks it down and makes it easy to follow. You’ll win a lot of loyalty because of it.

Be Different

It’s a crowded field out there. There are a lot of marketers vying for the spotlight. Everyone wants to earn. Everyone’s releasing products and new content. How can you get your piece of the pie? How can you become a top-earning authority in your niche?

As a marketer, it’s important to stand out. You can stand out in so many different ways. What’s different about Whole Foods vs. Giant grocery stores? They offer a similar product, but it’s pretty clear to you how they’re different. People in your niche who you are perfect for, need to feel drawn to you.

Come up your USP (unique selling proposition) and use it in your marketing materials.

Think about content that goes viral and stands out for some of these companies. Can you do something like that?

What do you have to offer that they don’t? One of the most obvious answers is YOU! You have something special to offer. Only you can represent your niche, information, strategies, and help to your audience in the exact way that you do. You have a unique set of experiences and way of looking at the world and your audience will be drawn to that– they just have to know about it. It has to be clear to them. This is the basis of starting a coaching business too.

If you stand out, you can gain authority in your niche. Your audience will stick with you and tell others about you because you’re unique and provide them with exactly what they need.

Gaining authority in your niche isn’t something that happens overnight. It’s a combination of these things over time (and with your focused effort) that will make it happen.

But, you know what? There’s a shortcut… and that’s what we’re going to talk about next 🙂

How to Create Recurring Income from Information Products

Launching an information product can be profitable. While you’ll probably see a good number of sales in the first few days, those numbers will begin to drop lower and lower as time goes on. That means to get another big influx of cash, you have to start the whole product creation and launch process all over again.

However, there’s another alternative to coasting from launch to launch. What if you turned your information product into recurring income? You’d have a steady, predictable stream of income that you could count on every month. It’s not hard to build in recurring income for a digital product. Just try one of these ideas…

Add a Group Coaching Option

If you’re teaching your customers how to do something complex like build a website or launch a podcast, then it’s a smart idea to offer a group coaching option. This gives your buyers to soak up more of your wisdom and network with other customers.

You don’t have to use fancy software for this. Just create a closed Facebook group and tell your buyers to request to join. All you’ll have to do is verify that the customer purchased your product and approve their request.

Offer Continuing Education

Sometimes, the best way to earn recurring income is to continue teaching your buyers. When you provide continuing education, your customers can go deep into a topic. For example, maybe you have a digital product that teaches users graphic design. Create mini lessons that share additional tips and insights.

The good news is that this is also easy to set up. All you have to do is create your extra lessons and add them to your autoresponder. Then the lessons will all be delivered for you seamlessly. A common way to get digital video courses or coaching content is to purchase done-for-you digital content with private label rights licenses. This means you can rebrand the content with your branding and resell it to your customers or use it in your business to coach customers.

Give Them Templates or Resource

Another option is to provide your audience with monthly templates. For example, if your digital product was about graphic design, then you could give your customers a new batch of templates each month. One month, you could provide them with 5 book cover templates. The next month, give them Facebook banner templates.

Of course, you’re not just limited to templates. You could also offer a monthly font subscription service. Each month, your buyers get access to a bundle of fresh fonts that you—or someone you outsource to—have created.

Provide Software as a Service

Sometimes, it can be smart to provide software as a service. In other words, customers pay you monthly to access some type of software. This software can depend on your niche. For example, if you’re in the health and fitness niche, then the software might be a digital meal planner or exercise app.

Don’t worry; you don’t have to create the software yourself. You can buy software that’s already been created and add your own branding to it. You can find these software options by searching online for “brandable software” or “plr software.” Then all you have to do is charge for access.

Before you launch your next product, spend time thinking about how you could turn that one sale into recurring income. Not only is it fun and easy to do this but it can also boost your profits.
